her compliment is given with a blushed thanks, before the LED above the steel-plated door nearby turns green, accomponied by an audible 'click'. once nia steps through the door, she's greeted by winter dampened rays of sunlight. before her, a living and breathing replic of a city filled with people going about their business. a woman waters her flowers, one hand checking her phone absentmindedly while another man jogs by, absorbed in his music. if she'd been expecting this to be a place of props, she'd see now how incorrect that was. but, even before she gets the chance to step out and explore the landscape before her, SIRENS begins to sound.[break][break]



"this is an emergency alert. i repeat, this is an emergency alert. " a voice, feminene and noticebly shaking, blares alongside the sirens. "the legendary pokemon GROUDON is attacking. all civilians please head towards your nearest emergency shelter. i repeat. the legendary pokemon GROUDON is attacking. all civilians please head towards your nearest emergency shelter." the voice continues its alerts on a loop.[break][break]

in the distance an EXPLOSION plumes up and into the clear sky, sending smoke and debris in every which direction, and creating a defense thicket of clouds. voices cry out in panic and terrified civilians scatter in every which way — chaos ensues.[break][break]

on either side of nia, two flares go off. one blue, and one red.[break][break]

PANIC takes the streets as men, women, and children scatter in all directions. with each step the titan shakes, his will imbues itself into the earth. aftershocks rattle the foundations of the city as buildings not meant to hold-up under this pressure, succumb, sending clouds of debris skyward. before her very eyes, the earth consumes those unfortunate enough to still linger.

but, while some listen to nia's voice of reason, most do not. the chaos that's ensued from the titan's stirring is UNPREDICTABLE, and UNSTOPPABLE. having no other choice, she proceeds to the BLUE FLARE. it's a short trip, one supplied by the soundtrack of destruction. arriving at the flare's destination, the first thing nia would notice is a building shaking in it's foundation, already half-destroyed. a crowd forms, screams and sobs originating from their location. barely legible, the sign reads "HESTER'S DAYCA-". a voice rings out.

"somebody, please! save my baby!" a woman sobs into the arms of a distraught man, falling to her knees in grief. a dozen others look on, equally concerned, worried and terrified. a nearby bus, small and painted with cute, baby-like pokemon, waits nearby, its driver gone. it seemed like these kids were on their way out.

the earth rattles again, and nia catches a glimpse of a rampaging titan. its form resembles that of its most recent appearance atop mt. pyre, crimson armor trimmed in a gold glow. its arms come together as PRECIPICE BLADES form and create a wake of destruction in another part of the city. groudon continues its advance deeper into the city.

TASK

A DAYCARE lies is near ruins, a by-product of Groudon's siege. It's foundation lies shaky and could collapse at any moment. Parents, teachers and bystanders alike look on in horror as CHILDREN ARE TRAPPED beneath the rubble. Find a method to safely recover as many children as you can. ROLL at the end of your post to potentially affect the outcome.

NIA's call to action does not go unnoticed. men and woman turn their attention to her, urged into facing the humiliation, shame, but most of all, their fear. it's reflected in their askewed looks and trembling limbs. face-to-face with their mortality, they are forced to discover who they really were - it's not pretty.

"she's right!" a voice calls out, masculine, originating from a nearby gentleman. his eyes are bloodshot red and soot lingers on his clothes. "everyone, use what pokemon you can! start clearing the rubble." he gets to work immediately, moving towards the rubble.

a chunk of the building COLLAPSES, sending more rubble into the already growing pile. screams of panic and fear cry out, but with quick thinking, an ICE SHARD stabilizes the foundation. while it wasn't a permanent solution, it provides VITAL TIME for nia and others to continue their search.

and search they do.

with so many men and women working together, all towards a common goal, things begin to TURN AROUND for the BETTER. cries of fear, and panic turn into ones of relief and happiness as children are reunited with their parents. most suffer minor injuries, with some exhibiting signs that require hospitalization - but they're safe. however, as things look to be coming to a conclusion, another EARTHQUAKE pulses through the earth. the ICE SHARD SHATTERS and the foundation begins to CRUMBLE ALL AROUND nia and the other survivors.

if something isn't done, NO ONE IS SAFE.

TASK

WORKING TOGETHER, Nia and others are able to successfully dig out the children from the rubble, leading families to joyous reunions. but things are never easy. The building is COMING DOWN around nia and the group, turning this rescue party into a potential mass casualty event. Handle this latest development by WHATEVER MEANS POSSIBLE.

BLIZZARDS work to freeze the collapsing rubble back to their foundations, but it's fruitless in the face of the titan's wrath. as they die down, replaced by ICE SHARDS, it works...
[break][break]
..for a time.
[break][break]
then the building comes crashing down. Nia Acadia recognizes she can't stay long, and pushes herself out from beneath the buildings collapse and into safety. but for SEVEN OTHER SOULS, it's too late. beneath the building's collapse, LIVES ARE LOST. it's only with luck, and her natural hardiness, that nia's lapras is able to remain relatively unharmed. still, she'll NEED TIME TO RECOUPERATE before she's combat ready again.

in the face of such tragedy, many of the men, women and children, fall into the void of grief. what had been a normal day, will now be one none of them will ever forget. cries of pain, of anguish, and of fear, fill the air alongside dwindling flames. it's easy to get lost in the pain; swept up in regret.

despite this, a voice piques up. the same from one before, a younger man, though much dirtier than he was minutes ago.

"you saved a lot of lives. that was very brave. this would've been much worse without you - thank you." should nia need a helpful hand, he reaches out, ready to assist. behind him, barely visible, two flares go off.

Despite Nia Acadia 's best efforts, live were lost today. Still, her help proved invaluable in saving many more. This is one the many harsh realities one must face when confronting disasters like these.
